Laborers and General Work
Performs a variety of manual duties, usually working in a utility capacity by working on multiple projects and tasks where demands require workmen with varied experience and ability to work without close direction. Unloads and transports reinforcing steel. May occasionally place and tie reinforcing steel. Directs common laborers in pouring concrete. Erects shoring and bracing. Assists in installation of pipe. Installs, operates, and maintains dewatering systems. May assist equipment operators in positioning machines, verifying grades and signaling operators to dumping positions to maintain grades as directed. Uses power tools and air tools. May work as lead in a labor crew. The performance of a wide variety of construction jobs distinguishes this worker from a helper assigned to a specific craft. Installs and maintains erosion control. Is more or less a general utility construction worker. May be second step in learning a skill, and may later become a helper in a specific classification. Performs other related duties.

The Asphalt Plant Mechanic performs safe and skilled work in the maintenance and repair of asphalt plant equipment.

Performs preventative, predictive, and corrective equipment maintenance; reviews operation of plant equipment and systems to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipates problems to identify opportunities for improvement. Inspects equipment for safe and proper operation and performs preventative maintenance per manufacturer’s specifications.

Diagnoses, installs, and performs repairs on the asphalt plant equipment. Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds, and maintains equipment. Operates and inspects machines and equipment to diagnose defects. Performs other related duties as needed and assigned.

Requires technical competence, knowledge of electrical and electronic switch gear maintenance and repair, knowledge of welding and fabrication, machines and tools, including their designs, installation, uses, repair, and maintenance. Requires knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions sufficient to be able to maintain a safe work environment.

Asphalt Paving Construction Estimator

 

Responsible for preparing estimates for TxDOT and local municipality asphalt paving roadway projects. Will have accountability for completing bid proposals, performing takeoffs, attending pre-bid meetings, performing site visits, contacting suppliers and subcontractors, leading bid reviews, entering quotes, and closing out estimates. Will work with operations staff and project management staff to familiarize them with the project and coordinate resources and scheduling. Will work with project scheduler to prepare pre-bid schedules when needed. On successful projects, will perform conforming of the estimate to prepare transition to accounting and project management software, and will work with the project management team to prepare purchase orders and subcontracts.

 

Requirements:

  • Experience with Heavy Bid software, P6 Scheduling software a plus.

Heavy Highway Construction Senior Estimator

Requirements:

10+ years experience in the Heavy Highway industry required, with more than half of that being in estimating.

6+ years experience with Heavy Bid estimating software required.

3+ years experience estimating TxDOT projects required.

Must be proficient with performing takeoffs and preparing estimates from start to finish.

Trimble Business Center software experience a plus.

P6 Scheduling software experience a plus.
